Macro

Here are a couple from the outing.   Nothing to write home about.  Even with the high ISO and shutter speed I really did not get any what I would consider tact sharp images.  There was just enough breeze to be a challenge.

Macro and Silhouettes

My images taken while we were doing our outing were pretty much a bust.  I did get the silhouette of the leaves, so I know it works...... but what a boring shot:

I did get this macro after I got home..... not great, but better than anything I shot on the outing:

OK, I know this is pretty sad, but it's what I came up with in my laundry room tonight.  It is fun and I can't wait to practice next week at our outing.  Thank you, Doug and Mike, for arranging this outing.

Light Painting

I'm really looking forward to our outing on May 16th at the Renaissance Center.  Light Painiting is addictive.  Here are a couple of examples.  If we get a clear dark night tonight, I will be out "painting" my barn.

Finally, Sue came up with a recipe for making "Orbs" in photoshop.  Turns out, Light Painting can produce some cool orbs.

Civil War Re-enactment

These pictures were taken at a recent re-enactment of the Battle of Blue Springs in Cadiz, KY

One would think with all of our cold weather and promises of snow, we might be able to get at least one good snow photo.  So in honor of this cold, cloudy, and damp day, posting a snow photo from a recent trip to Geneva, IL, where at least the sun was shining!

A couple of silhouettes

The Mark III is great at allowing quick metering which produces different effects.  Compare the two images below of Boots checking out the squirrels through the window.  For the silhouette, I simply spot metered out the window and then shot the image with Boots as the center of focus.  Compare that with focus and metering both on the dog.

One more.  With all that blue sky, it's hard to believe we have weather systems headed our way

Sorry if this gets posted twice.  Not sure if it got published the first time.

Looking forward to our meeting next week in Dickson for a fun day of photography.  I thought I had better get at least one photo posted from our January meeting, so here's my take on the ice in Mike's backyard.

See you soon !

Gotta love that Mark III

Shot in Paducah, cloudy and raining, bird moving and shot through a fench.  Went high ISO, put the focus point on his eye and the result was pretty darn good for those conditions.

County Line Road

The road to Mike's looked like a 'Winter Wonderland'....for a short time.

By the time we left for home, the magic had melted and was gone.

It was beautiful while it lasted!

Our ice shots

Fun and informative day today, M3ers.  Again, Susan and Ronal, we missed you.

As promised here is my "ice" image.  I call it icicles on icicles or "What you get when you wait too long to take down your Christmas decorations."
